Description
Hello Folks! I am offering up an RCDM (RC Don Manufacturing) siding power switch KIT for Lionel O-gauge FasTrack layouts . I designed this switch to fill a need I had to power-down my parked LionChief locomotives so they would not make noise or burn out the smoke unit while sitting idle on my sidings. This switch kit can been installed onto a Lionel FasTrack 1-3/8" track section ( NOT INCLUDED ) and then added to your FasTrack layout between any track joint, usually at the entrance to a dead-end "spur" siding. The switch will interrupt power flowing down the center rail when switched off allowing you to power-down whatever is parked on the siding. This switch KIT consists of a 3D printed PLA plastic switch housing and a two position mini-switch witch has pre-soldered 22 gauge silicone leads ready for attachment to your Lionel FasTrack 1-3/8" track piece 6-12073 ( NOT INCLUDED ). The switch KIT includes a drill jig which precisely guides where to drill the three needed holes to be made in the FasTrack section. The switch can then be screwed into place with the provided screws and the wires can be soldered into place as seen in the photos ( complete instruction are below in this listing ). This switch is particularly useful on "temporary" layouts where a track may be set up on living room floor and a complex remote wiring system is not practical. Note: This siding power switch will not work if the track is fed with power from both ends. You must isolate the section of track you wish to control and only feed it from the switch side. This auction is for one (X1) siding power switch KIT including a drill jig and hardware for installation on a FasTrack 1-3/8" track section ( NOT INCLUDED ). NOTE: You will need a 3/32" and 7/32" drill bit (and drill motor) to drill the needed holes in the track piece for installation. You will also need a Philips screwdriver, soldering iron and solder to make the connections to the track piece ( track, locomotives and tools shown in photos are not included in this listing ). Installation Instructions: To install the power switch you must first remove the jumper wire from your 1-3/8" FastTrack piece ( NOT INCUDED ) as seen in figure #1 (see photos). Next you need to hold the drill jig against the FasTrack piece as shown in figure #2 (be sure to seat the jig completely against the end of the track bed). While holding the jig in place over a scrap piece of wood you can use a 3/32" drill bit to drill through the two outer holes of the jig and through the track piece shown in figure #3. Please be careful with your fingers during this process! You can then use a 7/32" drill bit to drill the center hole through the jig as shown in figure #4. Now that the holes are made you can attach the switch housing to the track piece with a #1 Philips screw driver as seen in figure #5. Once attached you can then solder the two wires where the original jumper wire was located to finish the installation as in figure #6 (Note: It does not matter which wire goes to which terminal). Your FasTrack siding switch is now ready to be used with your layout! All of my 3D printed parts are made right here in the USA on American Made FDM type printer machines.
